First we do an intake, where we find out what is needed to make a session work. Think about the pelvis and know it houses your bladder, urethra, uterus (if you have one) genitals, rectum, anus and pelvic floor muscles off course. The lower back, hips and big muscles like abdominals, glutes and inner thigh muscles are all related…so we need to take time for those as well. We want to know about your medical history and your daily life. Which daily patterns are useful and which ones are in need of a change? What have those daily habits have to do with your sexual life (if this is a reason you are coming for a session) and what do you need to change, recognize or learn from me to get your body in the right direction for recovery / positive change….from there, we make a plan for examinations and content of our sessions. First session, is more of a discovery intake and you will always leave with some changes you can implement in your daily life. After that, every session is client-led and filled in with your need and my expertise.
It might be. If that’s the case, it will always happen with your full and conscious consent. If you’re not yet sure where your boundaries are, that’s where we will start our exploration. I also work with people who are not yet ready to be touched, and that’s something we can explore together. Is touch needed, and if so, how can we approach it in a way that feels safe for you?
Connecting with your own body can happen in many ways. Touch is just one of them. Together, we can create the conditions that make touch possible — and beyond that, help you make connection with your body a natural part of your life. You might come to enjoy feeling yourself again… sometimes through touch, but also through movement, breath, sound, and mindful awareness.
Yes you can. We talk this through before we begin. It depends on the reason why you come to Pelvix. If it’s for physiotherapy and you don’t have an “aanvullende verzekering” (complementary insurance), you pay the invoice yourself and will not be able to get reimbursed. If you come for somatic sexology you will not be reimbursed either. In these cases, we can have a package for 3 or 5 times with a discount.
If we discover together that I don’t have the right competencies for the issues you’re coming with, I will do my best to help you find someone who does. Sometimes, I can support you in taking a first step in your process, so that you can continue working on your recovery from there. Check out Juke’s Archive.
At Pelvix, I work according to the KNGF guidelines for physiotherapists. This forms the framework. From there, we determine together which treatment suits you best. This will be a mix of educational (cognitive) and scientifically proven physiotherapeutic methods.
In addition, we focus on creating a connection between the body and the mind (and vice versa). There is now a great deal of scientific evidence supporting this approach, although for some it is still in its early stages (for example, the Polyvagal Theory by Stephen Porges).
Finally, somatic coaching can be included when it’s relevant and there is space for it.
My rates are competitive and designed to provide value for specialized care as a pelvic health therapist and somatic sexologist. While some health insurers partially reimburse these services, please note that there are no contracts with any insurance companies. This means I do not directly bill insurers. Instead, after your session, you will receive an invoice that you pay yourself and can then submit to your health insurer for potential reimbursement. We recommend checking with your insurance provider beforehand to understand your coverage specifics for physiotherapy.
